What Patients Should Do Before The Operation?
1-Research
To take efficient answers during the inspection process, we advise patients to do little research about
plastic surgery and operations.In this way patients can feel relief while expressing themself about
their needs and expectations to the doctor.
2-Consultation
First meeting with the plastic surgeon is the first step of identifying patients needs, and
expectations, and their treatment process. In this meeting doctors would like to answer all questions of
the patients and they make simulations to show close prediction of operation results.
3-Preparation
Drugs written for the operation should be obtained in advance. All patients’ social life is going to be
limited after their operations so they should prepare themself accordingly about business life and their
daily life.
4-Drugs
It is important that aspirin and other blood-thinning medications have been stopped before the
operation. It is necessary for the patient to declare the medicines and nutritional supplements to
his/her doctor that is being used and should stop before the operation. In case of smoking, it should
have been stopped by patients two weeks ago before the operation.
5-Support
Driving a car is prohibited for the patients after the operations. In treatment, patients need
companions to take support for their life.
6-Planning
Patients should plan their business lifes and responsibilities for their first 1 to 2 weeks treatment
periods.
What Patients Should Do After The Operation
NUTRITION
The patient can continue to eat normally after the operation. However, nasal obstruction makes it
difficult to swallow solid foods in the first week . Water consumed abundantly helps the body recover.
MEDICINES
The drugs written in the healing process must be used as described. In addition to pain medications,
antibiotics and swelling-reducing medications can be prescribed.
MAINTENANCE
The patient should do daily care of his nose with saline spray and cream. After the operation, daily
care steps that should be applied at home is explained to the patient. Patients should be sure and
careful to not get wet while washing their face.
ACTIVITY
Running, heavy lifting and doing cardio training is unfavorable for the first week after the operation.
Bending the head forward or down should be avoided. There is no harm in walking.
SLEEP
In the first few nights, the patient should lie on his back two pillows under their head. Lying sideways
can cause the lower part of the nose to swell. In the days after the operation, the patient should take
care to rest abundantly.
ATTENTION
No anti-inflammatory drugs, including aspirin, should not be used until at least 2 weeks after the
operation. Because this may significantly affect the healing process. No smoking.
